Lost & Profound
Country of origin:
Type of music generally:
Country-flavoured contemporary folk
Most recent release, Love's Sweet Messenger (1996)
Lisa Boudreau has one of those beautifully liquid voices that immediately gets my attention. It reminds me a big of Karin Bergquist's (of Over The Rhine). The band's style is rather like a slightly more country-flavoured Cowboy Junkies. (Neile)
Recommended first album:
1992—Polygram (Canada)—513 251-2
Canadian sources, possibly out of print
Highly recommended for fans of countryish folk
Lisa Boudreau—vocals, percussion
David (Quinton) Steinberg—drums
The first track of this disc "Winter Raging" is stunningly beautiful and a wonderful use of Lisa Boudreau's gorgeous voice. The rest of the album is a little more usual—pleasant but not outstanding folk music made a little more interesting by the vocals. (Neile)
