Comparisons:

Early Loreena McKennitt

Covers/own material:

Traditional and own material

General comments:

Traditional and neo-traditional folk, though she writes a lot of her own music, telling traditional stories from Prince Edward Island, Canada. Somewhat like early Loreena McKennitt, though not the soaring voice—her voice is more reedy. Nearly as good in her own way, though. (Neile)

Comments:

A charming collection of traditional songs and neo-traditional songs Teresa Doyle wrote based on folklore and ghost stories from Prince Edward Island. Her reedy voice serves her well here, and her song "Maggie Daly" is wonderfully authentic-sounding—it's hard to believe it's not from the same folk sources as the other lovely folk ballads here. (Neile)

Comments:

A sweet mixture of traditional and neo-traditional music á la early Loreena McKennitt, but Teresa Doyle doesn't have a killer voice, just a good, serviceable one that actually sometimes serves the songs a little better by not overwhelming them. She's a really good songwriter, and this is a great followup to Forerunner. Includes nice versions of such well-known traditional songs as the French/Acadian "Isabeau", "Jock O'Hazeldean", "Pretty Fair Maid", "The Cuckoo", and "The Wind that Shakes the Barley". (Neile)
