General comments:

Mieka Pauley has a strong and slightly smokey/bluesy voice. Her music is generally folkrock and forceful. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Comments about live performance:

I highly recommend to all that you try to see her—Mieka *rocks*. Mieka Pauley was a powerhouse, as always. Mieka is an amazing performer, and also a really really cool person. (3/08)
She peeled the paint off the walls, and it was great. And if she comes to your town, go— hether she's with her band or solo, she rocks and is well worthy of support. (3/09, meth@smoe.org)

Far too loud for little Rockwood Music Hall, but fun angry loud music. My favorite was 'Marked Man' with Mieka singing threateningly as she rhythmically thumped her guitar, just percussion and voice. Most of her stuff is too in-between for me, not enough country or punk or folk so I'm reminded of MOR Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow. 'All the same mistakes' is still one of her best songs. Comments:

"Stronger" is definitely the single here—very nicely constructed and Mieka Pauley's slightly smokey voice is wonderfully emotive here. There other four tracks aren't quite as strong, though "first stone" has a lovely, haunted melody. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)

Comments:

This album has particularly tough lyrics and her singing matches it. Recommended if you like tough, folky music. Though "Frigid" proves that she can do torchy and yearning, too. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com)
