General comments:

A pretty standard mid-'90s alternative rock band, Salad seems to have come and gone just like that sound. What stood out them were some especially fun tracks, and Marijne's smoky but cold and dramatic vocals. Her voice has a very strange ability to seem like she's pushing close to going over the top while at the same time seeing detached. (Neile)

Comments:

This is a compilation of 3 eps, kent ep (released June '83), Diminished Clothes (released November '93), and On A Leash ep (released April '94). All three eps seem to be a bit of a warm-up—the band don't yet really break out from the crowd of bands doing similar things in terms of their songwriting or performance, but all shows signs of promise, especially "Diminished Clothes", and actually they seem to get better with each release. Comments:

The band goes a little more pop and suddenly something clicks in their songwriting and performance. This is has so many great songs on it! If you like altrock at all, I highly recommend this album. It's lively, individual, and well, wonderful rock. "Drink the Elixir" is so damn catchy. (Neile)

Some of their songs are really excellent. (klaus.kluge@gmx.de)
