Really marvellous stuff for those who like their music edgy and odd. This is catnip to me. (Neile) Recommended first album:Jewellery is their debut Recordings:Jewellery (2009) JewelleryRelease info:2009—Rough Trade (U.K.)—RTRADCD500 Availability:Wide Ecto priority:Highly recommended Group members:Mica Levi—electric guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals Guest artists:The Shapes (Marc Pell & Raisa Khan)—(1, 2 7,10, 11, 13) Produced by:Mica Levi and Matthew "Lemons" Herbert Comments:The album is experimental and some full of odd noises, but instead of being Difficult Listening Hour this comes out somewhat mischievous and a little seriously playful. Definitely has both intellectual and emotional energy. They made quite a splash in Britain and should have received a similar reception in North America, but haven't yet. If you like edgy music at all, give this a try. Highly recommended, and one of my favourite albums of the year. (Neile) |
