Laura CheadleCountry of origin:U.S. Type of music generally:Bluesy, soulful pop Status:Most recent release, I'll Have a Blues Christmas (seasonal, 2015); most recent release of non-seasonal material, Where the Blues Hangs Out (2014) See also:Laura Cheadle's site Comparisons:Sheryl Crow, Sara Bareilles Covers/own material:Own General comments:Laura Cheadle plays funky, bluesy, soulful pop and sings deeply, richly, evocatively, backed by skilled musicians, most of whom seem to be part of her (obviously very musical) family. She can rock out and sing soulful ballads—all have a funky, bluesy, soulful flavour. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com) Recommended first album:Falling In is the only one we've heard Recordings:
Falling InRelease info:2006 Availability:See Laura Cheadle's site Ecto priority:Recommended Group members:Laura Cheadle—vocals, guitar Guest artists:James S. Cheadle—keyboards Comments:This album has a nice range, from funky love songs to bluesy rocking tunes. Stand-out tracks for me are the love song, "Perfect Design," the funky, soulful "Midst of Your Mystery," and especially the hidden, acoustic track, "Surrounded," which is just her and her guitar. This album is recommended for all fans of soulful, bluesy pop. (sophiagurley@hotmail.com) Thanks to Sophia Gurley for work on this entry.
